MERCURY TRANSIT EVENT
MERCURY TRANSIT EVENT
In partnership with the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York (aaa.org) we set up solar telescopes at East River Park to observe the rare Transit of Mercury across the face of the sun. Attendees had the chance to see the transit and track its progress throughout the course of the event. Simultaneously during this viewing, participants had the opportunity to listen to six different panelists and experts on the subject and take a close look at these alignments of Earth, Sun and, Mercury or Venus, to see why transits occur when they do, always during the same two months of the year.
